Studies on the Improvement of Garlic Cultivation in Cheju

Abstract
In order to test the percentage of yield decrease garlic was planted late in the season in Cheju area.
This experiment involved the normal planting of garlic a garlic clove $quot;cold treatment$quot; and the planting of whole bulbs on October 31, 1919.
1) Rooting by excess moisture during the clove $quot;cold treatment$quot; inhibited the rooting ability.
2) Transplanting showed a 100% rooting ratio.
3) The earlier the garlic was planted, the higher the clove number in each bulb but the later the garlic planted the lower the clove number.
4) The low temperature requirement needed for wintering was remarkably related to the size of garlic plant.
5) In order to cultivate the garlic late in the season in Cheju area, the seed bulb was treated at 0¡5¡É for 30 days and this allowed increased yields.
